Branko Galoic and Skakavac Orkestar
Branko Galoic is a guitar player, composer, singer and songwriter from Ivanic Grad, Croatia. He has lived in Amsterdam since 2000 and that’s where he acccidentally met Dragi Šestic, a producer from Bosnia, with whom he recorded his first solo album: Above the Roofs. This record is strongly influenced by Balkan traditional and Gipsy music, mixed with Blues and Pop. Branko sings in his mother language.
For the past year he has played with an international band which consists of trombone, trumpet, alto saxophone, tuba, drums and occasionally accordion, whose members are from Sweden, Holland, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Croatia.
About the previous album:
Above The Roofs was released in April 2006, and is available in Croatia, the Netherlands, Bosnia, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Japan.
The album Above the Roofs received equally positive reviews in every country:
- It was named Jazz CD of the week in October 2007 by the newspaper “The Independent” (United Kingdom).
- It was rated among the 100 best albums of 2006 in the Netherlands by critic Rita Jager in the music magazine "Jazzism".
