Amarins (1983) is a well known face in Amsterdam's blooming singer/songwriter and folk underground scene. Among others, thorugh het Amsterdamse Songwriter Guild (ASG) she got to perform at more intimate pop stages, where she accquired a small but dedicated amount of followers. Amarins was support of Larkin Grimm and recorded on the first and second album of Lucky Fonz III. She was selected For the Popronde 2007, and made it to the semifinals of the same year's Grote Prijs van Nederland (Biggest Singer/songwriter contest in the Netherlands). Since November '07 she leads Amarins & Le Gatte Negre, with whom she often performs.Their first Album, produced by Ro Halfhide (Lucky fonz III), was released in 2008 with a huge success.Amarin's music can be described as a mixture of free folk, pop, blues, rock 'n roll, gypsy brass band sounds and Frisian fanfare. Besides working as a musician Amarin's is also a theatermaker and illustrator. As she tells it Amarin's musical dream is to play with De Kift, Bjork, Beirut, Lauryn Hill, Tom Waits and Jolie Holland around the campfire on Vlieland in front of the luminous see.
